At Wyevale Nurseries we have heavily invested in a new Container Tree production area, located at our tree growing farm in Hereford. The newly created beds expand our renowned ‘British Grown’ native species selection, with over 15,000 container trees available. This provides tree planting throughout the year, and the opportunity to contract pot your trees for specific planting schemes.
All container trees are 100% peat free and grown using recycled rain-water from our newly built reservoir.
We employ only the two best potting systems, which include the Airpot Spring Ring, and our very own Wyevale Green Container bags. Our green bags are a woven geotextile, with additional hole punctures to allow the light to gently air prune the developing tree root system. This prevents root spiralling in the container, whilst gently stimulating further fibrous roots to grow. With our expert tree growing knowledge, combined with our Green Containers and your correct planting technique, you will achieve the fastest, most successful establishment rates.
Our Green Containers have the added benefit of the drawstring tops, which seal the container, so no soil medium is lost during lifting and transportation.
We supply our container trees in sizes that start at 6-8cm girth, through to our largest at 20-25cm. These British Grown native trees include our very own cultivars, the Wyevale Select range. A tighter, more uniformed selection of the native seedlings Prunus padus, Quercus robur and Betula pendula.
The Betula pendula Select is our fastest selling Select cultivar, and with very good reason. Its bark is a cleaner, brighter shade of white than the seedling pendula. It has been known to shine brightly in the evening reflecting the moonlight. Throughout the radiant white bark, there are subtle swirls of cinnamon that is similar to the Betula albosinensis, offering a stunning display through the winter. Its canopy has a tighter, ascending form, that remains open and flowing, making it ideal for urban street tree planting.
