The right canopy for your space – how to choose from the wealth of design options

A&S Landscape have an extensive range of canopies which have been installed across the UK for more than 40 years. We work with builders, architects, schools and all kinds of public buildings to enhance and create outdoors spaces with the addition of shades, shelters and canopies.

No matter what kind of space you have, there is sure to be a canopy to complement your project. Whether your aim is to define specific areas or just add to the overall aesthetic, a canopy can provide vital shade and shelter as well as a bold design feature. Design options are almost endless; from fabric shade sails and umbrellas, to straight and curved roof steel and polycarbonate canopies, linear or cantilever designs.

A&S Landscape manufacture canopies in the UK. Quality is paramount and many of our designs have galvanised and PPC steelwork, unbreakable roofing, aluminium rainwater goods and more. The quality of the products used and the installation itself means that an A&S Landscape canopy will stand the test of time. Our growing list of repeat customers is testament to this.

Steelwork is available in 12 colours and roofing options include 9 variations of coloured polycarbonate. This can add some interest and personalisation to your canopy. You also have the option to brand the canopies with logos or fabric in corporate or team colours. Whatever your thoughts on design we would be glad to make recommendations and suggestions.

Fabric canopy design

Our Maxima range includes Shade Sails, Umbrella shades, Tepees and StarSails, which are available with either shade cloth which provides UV protection, or PVC sails which provide UV protection in addition to being waterproof. There are 40 colours of PVC fabric to choose from and some designs have the option of curved posts, which adds another dimension. Shade sails can be square or triangular, set individually or overlapping, depending on the space. A&S Landscape can work on bespoke solutions to meet your requirements. Our experience and wide product range means we are sure to have the right product for your project.

Steel and polycarbonate canopy design

Our Motiva range of steel and polycarbonate canopies come in a wide range of designs and sizes with straight or curved roofing. The main structure is powder-coated steel to ensure they are long lasting. Rainwater goods are always aluminium to ensure that they endure. The steelwork is finished in a Dura-coat finish to any RAL colour, so these canopies can be finished to your exact specification.

The most cost effective widths for the straight roof Motiva Linear canopy are: 2000mm, 3000mm, 4000mm, 5000mm, 6000mm. Any size and shape can be designed and manufactured easily and options include side panels and roller shutter doors. Polycarbonate roof covering is either clear or opal as standard or coloured at extra cost. Post pads can be any colour, often contrasting with the structure.

Key considerations when considering a canopy for your project might include:

  • The size of the space to be covered, width and length
  • Any height restrictions
  • Colour themes or branding considerations
  • Position and number of posts, does this restrict movement or flow of people traffic
  • Requirement for post pads
  • Groundworks
  • Materials – steel and polycarbonate or PVC shade sail
  • Access to site – any restrictions
  • The use of the area – who is going to be using the space
  • Maintenance of the canopy – who will be maintaining the canopy
