When is a Grass Seed not a Grass Seed?

Exclusive to LANDSCAPE 2013, British Seed Houses will be setting the design standard on its stand at C33 this year as it shows off the possibilities for its new grass seed product, AberSustain, unveiling an exclusive designer bag and hat handmade from the versatile seed which has been especially cultivated for architects, designers and landscape markets.

Launching at the 2013 Landscape Show, AberSustain is one of the most versatile and ecological grass mixtures available on the market.

Designed with professional landscape gardeners and architects in mind, AberSustain will offer the ultimate low maintenance and sustainable option on the market today.

Ideal for use on a range of landscaping projects from hard wearing lawns in parks, to cutting edge, ecological builds across our cities- this is one of the most versatile mixtures available.

Containing 100% Aber® varieties bred at IBERS (The Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences) in Aberystwyth, where British Seed houses funds the UK’s largest seed breeding programme, the mixture is a unique blend of UK bred varieties for UK conditions exclusive to British Seed Houses.

AberSustain contains the smallest leaved white clover, AberAce†.  This compact clover leaf blends well to any amenity setting, retaining quality look and feel, whilst its high stolon density fixes nitrogen to help the sward feed itself and making it low maintenance.  Its white clover root systems improve soil structure and can help to overcome problems of soil compaction.

Richard Brown Amenity Manager said: “Architects and specifiers are continually looking for a seed mixture that does not compromise on quality or on ecological impact for their high profile landscaping projects. As budgets get tighter, often the quality and sustainable benefits of a product are pushed back as budgetary constraint become front of mind.

“We therefore wanted to produce a seed mixture that not only offered an environmentally and economically sustainable solution but also ensured that the design integrity of the landscape project was retained.”

British Seed Houses Amenity provides a range of grass seed products and services designed to meet the specific requirements of the amenity industry.
