Provender Nurseries Silver Gilt Medal at Hampton Court

Provender Nurseries have proved that they can spot great new talents in garden design co-sponsoring a garden with Capel Manor College, Vanessa Hoch and Rachel Pocock of  VaRa Garden Design that received a Silver Gilt medal at Hampton Court Flower Show 2015 for ‘Foundations for Growth’.

‘Foundations for Growth’ is VaRa Garden Design’s first garden to become a reality from a design on paper to an award winning garden at Hampton Court.  The garden is in the Inspire Zone at Hampton Court proving the name fits the bill.

Well received by RHS judges and many press photographers on Press Day the bronze tones of the Corten Steel seats, planters and panel perfectly complement the planting of Hemerocallis ‘Lusty Lealand’, Hemerocallis ‘Crimson Pirate’ and Sanguisorba officinalis ‘Morning Select’ all of which are flowering at exactly the right time for the judging and show.

‘Foundations for Growth’ opened the BBC’s coverage on television on Monday 29th with Joe Swift complementing the planting tones.    The feedback from the judges was extremely positive with the colour scheme and the overall feel of the garden being complemented in particular.  Cleve West and James Alexander Sinclair also popped in for a visit and enjoyed sitting in the sunken area and discussing planting with Vanessa Hoch and Rachel Pocock of VaRa Garden Design.

Foundations for Growth’ is a culmination of hard graft and effort put in by Provender Nurseries, VaRa Garden Design and staff and students at Capel Manor College. Students of Garden Design and Hard Landscape helped to construct and plant the garden.

Vanessa Hoch says ‘The opportunity to put our first planting design into fruition and to be rewarded with a Silver Gilt medal at Hampton Court is beyond my wildest dreams.  Both Rachel and myself are incredibly proud of what we have achieved and are grateful for all the help from our team of planters and hard landscapers.’

Richard McKenna says ‘At Provender Nurseries we love the challenge of supporting new talent at such a prestigious show.  With such an impressive first build behind them I am confident that VaRa Garden Design will continue to provide inspirational gardens to their clients in the future’.

‘Foundations for Growth’ was inspired by winning a garden design competition run by Provender Nurseries at Capel Manor College for students of garden design.  ‘Foundation for Growth’ is the fourth show garden to be sponsored by Provender Nurseries and achieve medals at Hampton Court in the last 5 years.
