Lumena Lights Ltd

work with Landscapers, Garden Designers, Architects and Property Developers, supplying high quality outdoor lighting to achieve an exceptional standard of design and functionality in any outdoor space. We are very keen to discuss your projects, giving advice on the best types of lighting based on your specific requirements, as well as technical information on our products.

Outdoor lighting helps create an extended living space as an ‘outdoor room’ which looks great during daylight hours and is completely transformed into a place of beauty at night. As well as having decorative qualities, lighting brings safety and amenity to an area, creating a welcoming ambience to any garden.

Lumena offer a wide range of outdoor lighting, including the U.K.’s largest range of Photocell (dusk to dawn) and PIR (motion sensor) lights. Ranges include:

  • Illuminated Bollards & Path lights for domestic and commercial use
  • Wall Lights
  • Lamp Posts & Pedestal Lights
  • In-ground, Decking and Step Lights
  • Spike Lights & Spreadlights
  • 12v Garden Lighting

BOLLARD LIGHTS usually consist of a tubular or square body, topped with a polycarbonate lens and angled louvres to deflect the light source downwards (anti-glare). Commonly they are made from extruded Aluminium or heavy duty Stainless Steel but other materials may also be used such as Hardwood (Teak). Lumena have over 300 different variations of illuminated bollards available, including those with integral sensors, root mount options and designs compatible with super bright 20W LED Corn Bulbs. Marine Grade 316 Stainless Steel, approx. 3mm thick, is considered the most robust option, such as the STELLED (pictured). Our pro-bollards such as the LEDIFICE (pictured) are crafted from 2.5mm thick extruded aluminium which is then powder coated in a green or black finish, ideal for public spaces, car parks, golf courses, hotels etc.

Using lights with BUILT IN PHOTOCELLS will result in worry free lighting, knowing the lights will always be on at night and never during the day. Using LED bulbs can reduce the electricity costs per light to less than £2.00 per year! Fittings which are too small to accommodate an integral sensor can be controlled by a remotely located photocell mounted on the wall of the house or outbuilding which will control the entire circuit.

12V GARDEN LIGHTING is a great way to illuminate areas with smaller, less intrusive lighting. Not only is low voltage lighting very safe to use, it also has the added benefit of optional DIY self-installation resulting in minimal installation costs. On top of this, 12v systems will rarely trip even in very wet conditions. The underside of decking can often be permanently damp and cause problems if mains voltage lights are used which is a lot less forgiving. Our 12v Garden Lighting range include: spike lights, wall lights, decking lights and step lights, hanging lights, spread lights, bricklights, tree lights and underwater lights; all of which add charm to any space – traditional or contemporary.

For driveways, consider using recessed DRIVE-OVER LIGHTS that diffuse the light horizontally rather like having your own “cats-eyes” (see DuoMarka & QuadMarka pictured). These upmarket, copper or stainless steel designs are ideal as “waymarkers”, shining light only on the ground where required, rather than up in the air which can result in glare. Around decking areas, a flatter style deck light may be more suitable, reducing any trip hazard. Again, a frosted lens can also be used to reduce glare.

For stepped areas, surface mounted or recessed lights are perfect for adding safety by way of illumination, as well as creating exceptionally decorative lighting effects. We offer the Slatlite and Eyelite which are 12v surface mounted STEP LIGHTS, made from solid brass with a rustic bronze finish (pictured). They are designed to be mounted on a wall beside walkways and shine the light downwards and outwards across steps and paths. A number of recessed options are also available, including Rustic Bronze BRICK LIGHTS.

WALL MOUNTED UP & DOWN SPOTLIGHTS such as the Hilospot will create dramatic effects by mounting on the uprights of a pergola or gazebo, fence posts or any wall. Dichroic lenses can be added to create different effects in a number of different colours. Single adjustable spotlights, such as the Smartspot (pictured), are very similar in appearance although they can be angled to illuminate specific areas, more like task lighting than for eye catching effects.

HANGING LIGHTS can be suspended above eating areas to create a cosy atmosphere but at the same time giving sufficient light to see what you are eating! Hanging lights with multiple holes in the tube will create a twinkling charming effect (Sparkla & Starlight), imitating that of the natural night sky, or hanging lights such as the Pergolux act as a downlight, illuminating the area directly below such as a dining table.

Lumena have an extensive range of versatile SPIKE LIGHTS available in 12v and 240v. The ‘Smartspike 60’ lights are adjustable, 60mm diameter spotlights supplied with a ground spike in the same finish. They are ideal for use almost anywhere in the garden to highlight plants, trees, garden borders and specific features such as statues; as well as being able to integrate with areas of taller planting and shrubs for general spotlighting via optional extension rods.  Highly versatile twin spike lights – ‘Smartspike 260’ are also available. These are 1m tall, have a thicker hollow ground spike and have two independently adjustable spotlight heads. All types are rated IP65 in 12v or 240v and available with 5m cable options for increased installation options.

One factor that sets Lumena spotlights apart is that, unlike many others on the market, they are designed to accommodate low energy LED GU10 or MR16 lamps which are often longer halogen equivalents.

All Lumena lighting is crafted from highly durable, weather resistant materials such as:

  • Marine Grade Stainless Steel (316)
  • Real Copper (lacquered or non lacquered)
  • Solid Brass (polished or rustic bronze)
  • Aluminium (either anodised or powder coated).

Anodised aluminium versions are especially suited for use in coastal environments as the anodised finish is extremely resistant to salt corrosion and oxidisation. Natural copper will weather over time to create beautiful ‘rustic’ effects and eventually a verdigris finish.

TOP TIP: A layer of clear lacquer will help protect stainless steel from being effected by the salt in the air around coastal areas and help prevent tea-staining. It can also be used to prevent copper from oxidising, retaining a shiny, bright finish rather than the natural, duller verdigris finish which will develop over time.

We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and will always go the extra mile to assist our customers wherever possible. All orders placed before 3pm (Mon-Fri) are dispatched the same day on a next working day delivery service, with the exception of some items which are made to order when 1-2 extra working days are required. We hold high stock levels of most items and offer free delivery for orders of £60+ (inc. VAT).
