GreenBlue Urban are proud to support CityTree.

GreenBlue Urban are delighted to announce the launch of the first CityTree in London.  CityTree, a bio-tech air filter system that uses moss to clean polluted air within the urban realm and IoT technology to deliver quantifiable performance data in real time.

The first in London is being trailed by Westminster City Council and installed by Crown Estates in Glasshouse Street near Piccadilly.

CityTree was developed by Green City Solutions of Berlin in conjunction with the University of Dresden, a pioneer project and the first example of biotechnology being used to tackle air pollution.  Each CityTree can reduce particulate matter by up to 30%, and is principally effective in pollution hotspots.

The wall of irrigated mosses also produces a cooling effect on the surrounding area, helping to combat the urban heat island effect.

Featuring an integrated water tank, automatic irrigation system and solar-powered Internet of Things technology, the CityTree is largely self-sustaining and provides remote monitoring of pollution, health and performance.

With installations currently in Glasgow, Berlin, Oslo and Amsterdam, GreenBlue Urban are excited to support an innovative product to help reduce air pollution when tree planting is not a viable option.
