FP McCann’s Precast Concrete Fencing Division – Stronger through Investment

In operation in excess of ten years and showing year on year growth in sales, FP McCann’s precast concrete fencing division has firmly established itself as a leading UK supplier of precast concrete posts, panels and gravel boards. Recent capital investment in manufacturing capabilities, notably £2.5 million in new production lines and associated state-of-the art automated stacking and palletising robotics, has taken the business to the next level.

Operating out of its Cadeby manufacturing facility near Nuneaton, Warwickshire, FP McCann has ramped up production by an additional 30% with investment in two new Coote precast concrete production lines, both of which became operational from summer 2018. Additional to the increased output levels, the other major benefits of the new manufacturing lines have seen significant improvements in finished product quality and a reduction in the requirement for on-site manual handling. As importantly, and to accommodate the increase in production capacity at Cadeby, FP McCann has extended its on-site stocking capabilities with an additional 22 acres of land acquired for hard standing.

“Having such an extensive product range in stock has enabled us to smooth out the natural annual ‘peak and trough’ demands particular to the UK fencing products market”, comments David Harper, FP McCann’s Fencing Sales Manager. “Providing quality precast concrete products straight from stock at a competitive price is key to the continuing growth of our fencing business”, David adds.

FP McCann has also strengthened its commercial presence in conjunction with the Cadeby fencing production line investment. Alongside David, Lisa Mackett formerly of Supreme Concrete, Jack Wheldon from Forterra Building Products and Jamie Mills, who has recently joined FP McCann from AVS Fencing, have expanded the Company’s strategic market coverage in the south east and south west. “With Lisa and Jamie’s extensive knowledge of the south and London markets, we have grown our business with stockists and contractors alike, and Jack’s background dealing with the building sector, including merchants, has proved invaluable”, David says.

The Cadeby operational and commercial teams are well positioned not only geographically, but with a bank of skills and knowledge gained from years of experience being backed by an FP McCann willingness to invest in its business divisions, it will ensure the company is at the forefront of the precast concrete fencing sector in years to come.
