Metal railings and gate manufacturer Alpha Rail has illustrated its bespoke metal fabricating skills by installing some unique designs within Pets Corner, a small free to enter farm within Harlow Town Park.
Dating back to 1957 Harlow Town Park has been an idyllic surrounding enjoyed by all the local community. The park covers 164 acres and includes various water and garden features to entertain locals including Spurriers House, built in the 1860’s.
Amongst the parks features is Pets Corner, which recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Pets Corner is home to a wide variety of traditional farm animals whilst also housing more exotic animals such as reindeer, llamas and alpacas.
The focal point of the finished project is a signature sliding gate arrangement for the entrance to Pets Corner which Alpha Rail manufactured from a perforated aluminium plate depicting an image of a donkey and the wording “Pets Corner”. This has provided a truly bespoke effect to the visitor entrance.
Alpha Rail also supplied single leaf gates and vertical flat bar metal railings which were mounted around the edges of raised patio areas and stairwells to prevent falls. Galvanised metal handrails were also supplied for installation on stairways. Trip rail was also installed around a central grassed area where animals graze to help keep the animals penned in whilst also providing a safe viewing for visitors.
Feedback is that Harlow Town Council couldn’t be happier with the metalwork Alpha Rail has provided and are proud that they now have protective boundaries in place that help protect both animals and visitors.

Harlow Council received £1.83m from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund as part of the £2.83m restoration of the entire town, with around £800,000 allocated to the Pets Corner refurbishments.
